Traceability of objects

A common determinant to establish safer world by proving product authenticity is technology.

Due to the knowledge in cryptography, INCERT can host sensitive IT infrastructures and act as a trusted third party and thus offer customers secure traceability systems, intended to assure that products are not a result of counterfeit.

Fight against fraud and illegal activities has long been one of the Europe’s main objectives. With the increase of illegal manufacturing, distribution, and sales of tobacco products in European single market, EU took legislative steps and established traceability system implementing regulation 2018/574 where each Member State was required to appoint an entity (the ‘ID issuer’) responsible for generating and issuing the UIDs. INCERT got the mandate from the Ministry of Health to establish and is today managing an IT infrastructure supporting its role as national ID issuer for Luxembourg, as well as Belgium from 2019.

Securing Industry 4.0

In the recent surge of the Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Everything, where interconnectivity is rising and more and more data are being exchanged, security of communication flows is one of the important issues that must be addressed.

At INCERT, innovation and technology are at the heart of our activities. Our mission is to protect technological developments with smart application of cryptography, and as such promote them for wider adaptation. In that regard, INCERT designed the custom-build Key Management System (KMS) specific for the use case of connected cars. The KMS aims to support vehicle producers in securing communication between car components and software updates throughout the whole key lifecycle.

Due to the knowledge acquired in this industrial sector, INCERT’s KMS can today strenghten the cybersecurty landscape of other actors in the Industry 4.0, by supplying them with a careful management of cryptograpic keys, and above all, helping them to simplify their usage.
